We went to Santorini in April which is during the shoulder season. I wouldn’t recommend going before the ‘on’ season because it is cold and windy, and a lot of things are closed. On a positive note, it was quite an experience to see all the painters with buckets and buckets of blue and white paint as they get ready for the tourists.
Where we stayed: Absolute Bliss in Imerovigli
Favorite things to do:
1) Walk from Imerovigli along the caldera to the picturesque village of Oia
2) Santo Winery
3) Scenic drive around the island in our Smart car rental
5) La Ponta Venetian Tower – We stumbled across this site as we were exploring the area. It stuck out to us because of its natural beauty. Yiannis and his wife are currently restoring the site. They have done an amazing job. His wife gave us a tour of the inside which shows their love for music. There are antique instruments along with instruments that they have created. We even got an impromptu performance. I took home a drum
6) Sunset at Oia
Where to eat:
Angoli in Imerovigli: This restaurant was within walking distance of our BnB. We went there two nights in a row and we know it as our favorite restaurant in the world. Everything was delicious — we know because we ordered almost every dish!
